With his family’s permission, I am informing the Silver Sands community of the sad and unexpected news that on September 5th my fellow board member, Peter Lloyd, passed away. I will remember Peter as a man of intellect, insight and wit. Peter's passing is a great loss to the board as well as the community.

Our treasured friend and neighbor Dick Nelson died on March 16th surrounded by Shirley, his wife of 60 years, and his sons Jeff and Chris.

Ken Solid, longtime resident and Seattle hometown boy turned business and civic leader, passed away early on June 13, 2019 after 93 years of life. Ken's easy social grace and talents for humor and music drew people towards him, especially if he was at the piano. He was an avid tennis player and golfer. Please see the In Memory section for the full obituary.  

Dick Lueck passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on August 15 at the age of 92.

There is no one who exemplified what it is like to live in Silver Sands more than Dick Lueck. He was one of the most friendly and warm individuals that I have had the privilege to meet. He was a fixture at all our gatherings and was known for many years as the organizer of regular pot luck dinners.

Before we purchased our home we attended a pot luck as renters. That experience of meeting people and enjoying the sense of community made us feel part of something even when we were just here for a month.

Over the years, Dick served on the tennis, architectural and pools committees. He and Gene, his wife of 63 years, were supporters of the Indian Wells BNP tennis tournament and hosted many rising stars at their home in Silver Sands, often arranging show matches for all to enjoy.

I remember Dick for his always encouraging words and his appetite for my desserts. He was one of a kind and the definition of a gentleman, he will be sorely missed.
