    New Pickleball Restrictions

    Pickleball

In order to comply with Riverside County standards, no more than two foursomes may play pickleball at any time until further notice. As well, the two foursomes must be on opposite sides of the large dividing net.

To address this reduction in court capacity, the board has approved the emergency use of the adjacent tennis court (court 3) for pickleball play. Two courts have now been taped onto court 3. They are numbered court 10 and court 12 so when you use the online booking system, courts 9 and 11 will be the kitty - corner courts on court 2, and courts 10 and 12 will be the two courts on court 3.

Please note that court 3 will revert to tennis use while courts 6 & 7 are closed for resurfacing. This is expected to happen in mid- December.

We ask that all players abide by the new guidelines - no one wants to be a policeman. If a third foursome is found to be playing on court 2, the board will remove the nets from the two remaining courts.

In addition, masks must be worn during play, as the board feels that players cannot stay six feet apart while playing doubles on a pickleball court. A mask must cover your nose and mouth at all times. Playing with a mask on your chin or under your nose does not provide adequate protection. We ask that everyone show enough concern for their neighbors and friends to wear their masks appropriately at all times while on the courts.

Update: Link to Directory Email Address Now Connected

It has been brought to our attention that the link to the directory@ssrchoa.com email address in the last eblast was not connected properly and has now been fixed. We are getting a good response to ensure that the information in the 2020 directory is correct.

Please note that the attached document is a “working copy” and that the formatting will be added during the next stage of production of the directory.

    Your Help is Still Needed!

Please click here to review your listing for the 2020 directory.

The working copy of the directory has been updated with the changes received to date and we are once again asking for your help to ensure the information is correct by checking your listing.

    How to Review Your Listing

    1. Open this link to see an updated preview of the directory. (Please note that this has not been formatted).
    2. When you review your contact information you need to look in two places: the alphabetical listing in the first section of the directory and by street address at the end.
    3.

If there are multiple owners with different last names, there will be a listing for each in the alphabetical section so please check all of them.
    4. If any changes are required they must be submitted by Sunday, February 9 at 6:00 p.m. by email to directory@ssrchoa.com.

The preparation of the directory has been very challenging as most of the records for previous issues were inaccurate and/or unavailable. We have worked to compile information from Desert Resort Management as well as the information from our Silver Sands website.

Thank you for your attention in making sure your information is correct. If you have any changes or questions please send them to directory@ssrchoa.com as soon as possible.

    Emergency Preparedness Documents Update

For your benefit, a new document has been posted on our web site under Member Documents / Emergency Preparedness titled Silver Sands Emergency Preparedness Action Plan.

In this section of Member Documents you will also find the updated Emergency Preparedness Supply Checklist. Recall the responsibility for emergency supplies rests with the homeowner and not the HOA.

The Silver Sands Emergency Preparedness Action Plan for Residents states your job and your Emergency Preparedness Teams job before, during and after an earthquake.

Following is a list of your current Pool Zone Captains. This list will change as we add CERT (FEMA's Community Emergency Response Training) members to our team. We now have 14 trained CERT's and are in need of a minimum of 20. Opportunities for members to take this valuable CERT training will be sent via email blasts as classes become available.

    Pool Zone 1 & 2 - Marty & Sue Mayer
    Pool Zone 3 & 4 - Nancy Townsend & David Kimball
    Pool Zone 5 & 6 - Ann Davis & Carol Whitaker
    Pool Zone 7 & 8 - Peter Treleaven & Chip Wall
    Pool Zone 9 & 10 - Andy Dolan
    Pool Zone 11 & 12 - Diane Thomas & Jonelle Dedrick
Pool Zone 13 - Bob Thomas
Pool Zone 14 & 15 - Ace Strong and Patty Hamilton

The ICC (Incident Command Center) will be activated following an emergency, be located on Tennis Court 1, and be led by members of the Board of Directors and EP team members Gayl Baum and Earl Aurelius. Notify your Pool Zone Captain if you have healthcare or emergency response backgrounds that could be of assistance post emergency.

We strongly encourage you to be prepared with adequate food, supplies and water to survive for seven days and by having a clear understanding of our emergency plan and structure. Call your Pool Zone Captains with questions and inform your Pool Zone Captains if you have any special needs.

    Thanks

Diane Thomas, SS Emergency Preparedness Chair
